To help prevent injuries, sports physiotherapists have begun to employ what they call "prehabilitation" strategies. Prehabilitation is essentially preventive injury risk assessment and training to prevent the problem before it happens.
According to Meir et al (2007) "Prehabilitation should not to be confused with rehabilitation, where the objective is to facilitate the recovery of the injured athlete. Nor should it be confused with preconditioning, which is a term used to describe the process of preparing the body for more complex and sport-specific activities."
