Hello, my name is Eki[edit | edit source]

On my way to become a biomedical engineer, I found that I am more passionate when working directly with patients. On my clinical placement during my undergraduate study, I secretly wished that I was one of the clinical students instead. I loved (and still do) to learn about the human body, its wonderful mechanism to sustain itself, how it works, and how internal and external factors affect its performance. That drove me to train to become a physiotherapist upon my graduation. I had some teaching and laboratory assistant jobs before moving to the UK to study. I recently graduated from MSc. Physiotherapy (pre-registration) University of Birmingham, UK, with merit. I am originally from Indonesia and planning to return and work there as a physio. My long term plan is to come back to university to teach and conduct research.

My clinical interests are:

  • Pediatric physiotherapy
  • Neurology
  • Women's health
  • Health education
  • Healthy lifestyle promotion

I am also interested in:

  • Volunteering. I used to volunteer in two intercultural organizations back home. I loved connecting with people from different backgrounds because it enriches my life experience and teaches me valuable lessons.
  • Learning new languages. I am currently learning Swedish and totally enjoying it.
  • Psychology. I only recently realized that most of my casual readings are related to psychology.
  • Yoga. I am not the most athletic person out there, but I love doing yoga. Yoga makes me feel calm and energized.
  • Writing. I normally write about my thoughts and contemplations on my personal blog or facebook page.
  • Health writing. This is my new interest. I aspire to utilize my writing skill to the benefit of others. This is also the main reason why I wanted to join Physiopedia as a volunteer.
