Erik graduated as a physiotherapist in 1984, specialized in sports physiotherapy in 1991 and graduated as a manual therapist in 1992. Together with his wife, he works as a clinician in their own private practice. He has taught manual therapy students at SOMT, the major educational program in manual therapy in the Netherlands, and also physiotherapy students at the AVANS University of Applied Science in Breda, the Netherlands. He still teaches courses nationally and internationally, with a focus on clinical reasoning and evidence based practice in general as well as with respect to disorders of the spine. After organizing the national manual therapy congresses in The Netherlands for many years, he was the congress committee chairman of the 2008 IFOMPT congress in Rotterdam. Since 2008 he is Secretary / Treasurer of IFOMPT (www.ifompt.org). He is currently in the process of doing a PhD on cervical radiculopathy.
