User:Julie Shearer
Julie graduated from Queen’s University in 2005 with Honours in Physical Therapy and worked in private practice until joining SMP in 2008. She has completed several post graduate training courses in manual and sports physiotherapy as well as full certification in acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. Julie is currently working towards her Masters Degree in Clinical Manual Therapy from the University of Western Ontario by correspondence. Julie believes that understanding your injury and the cause of your pain is a key step on the road to recovery. The one-on-one environment at SMP is a good fit for her treatment philosophy.
Julie treats her clients by using a hands-on manual approach incorporating soft tissue and joint mobilization, using acupuncture and other modalities when needed, and providing home exercises to speed recovery. Julie enjoys having the time with her patients to provide education so they have the tools required to help themselves and prevent further injury.
