Muhammad Umar is currently enrolled as a PhD Scholar in Rehabilitation Sciences. Previously he has completed his Masters in Public Health and Post Professional Doctor of Physiotherapy. His academic carrier is further supported by certification in Sports Medicine, Manual Therapy, Reiki, Tele Rehabilitation Medicine and also few CME courses.
Umar has started his professional career in August 2003, he has a wide range of professional experience ranging from special education to sports physical therapy, in later, he has worked with both National and International teams. Currently he is working as the Head of Physiotherapy department in Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi and also serving as the coordinator for BSc Physiotherapy and Doctor of Physical therapy degree programmes in Rawalpindi Medical College, Rawalpindi. He has contributed in starting these courses at the respective institute and is also involved in teaching and trainings of these students since day one. MU is also associated with University of health sciences, Lahore, and has conducted their practical examinations and viva several times, both as external and internal examiner in different subjects of Physiotherapy.
Aside from working in institutional based rehabilitation, he has also been an active part in planning and implementing Community Based Rehabilitation Programs for the earthquake affectees, especially; Spinal cord injured patients, of October 2005.
Umar is a member of several professional bodies including Pakistan Physiotherapy Society, Pakistan Physical therapy Association and is also serving as the member advisory board of Riphah college of Rehabilitation Sciences, Riphah International University, Islamabad.

MU is working as the Managing Editor in Journal of Public Health and Biological Sciences (JPHBS) and as a National advisory board member in International Journal of Rehabilitation Sciences (IJRS). He is also an author of several research papers and a handbook related to back pain among medical community.
