I AM A DYNAMIC, WELL-MOTIVATED SPINAL CLINICIAN WHO POSSESSES AN ECLECTIC MIX OF MANUAL THERAPY SKILLS, WHICH ARE APPLIED TO EACH PATIENT ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. WHO SELECTS TREATMENT MODALITIES BASED ON THE PATIENT’S WISHES, COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT AND THE PROGNOSIS. AT ALL TIMES THE RANGE OF TREATMENTS WILL BE MUTUALLY AGREED AND SUPPORTED BY THE BEST EVIDENCE AVAILABLE. Current Role SPINAL EXTENDED SCOPE PRACTITIONER | STOCKPORT NHS FOUNDATION TRUST | OCTOBER 2007 - PRESENT · For the last six years I have led the Spinal Physiotherapy service at Stepping Hill Hospital. My role entails supporting the Spinal Consultants in Acute and Elective clinics, ensuring that the rehabilitation needs of their patients are met. I take a holistic approach to my treatments and as a consequence often have a significant number of referrals from Hip Surgeons and Pain Management specialists. Other sources of referrals seen include General Practitioners and Occupational Health Department. · Additionally, I work as a clinician in the private sector with a predominantly spinal caseload but also peripheral conditions if required. Often liasing with GPs to expedite patient dispersal. · I have a special interest in Pelvic Malalignment Syndrome and its interaction with recalcitrant spinal pain. · Another area I am currently developing is the integration of specific rest strategies to combat cyclical decline in presentations with chronic deconditioning. · At my current grade CPD is carefully selected and is often literature based in order to keep abreast of current issues including the work of Stuart McGill in particular.
