The term hemothorax is used to describe blood in the pleural space which is usually a result of trauma to the chest. Hemothorax can also occur spontaneously or as a complication during or following surgery however this is much less common. The bleeding can originate from any intrathoracic structure.[1]
Symptoms[edit | edit source]
- fever
- pallor
- chest pain
- chest heaviness
- dyspnea
- tachycardia
- cold sweats
