Patient Positioning[edit | edit source]

  • Patient is prone
  • test-side arm overhead at 145 degrees shoulder abduction
  • forearm in neutral with thumb to the ceiling

Joint start Position[edit | edit source]

  • 145 degrees shoulder abduction

Therapist Position[edit | edit source]

  • Stand at test side
  • For grades 4 and 5: resistance provided over distal humerus
  • Palpate shoulder adductor muscles
