About Me[edit | edit source]
First of all Thank You for visiting my profile and a massive Hello to you. I am Saumya Srivastava ( yes my name can be a tongue twister), but I am generally known as SAM. I currently work as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner for the brilliant NHS in the Primary Care Network and am in charge for the MSK services for the PCN.
I was born and bread in India and did my Bachelor's degree from there. I then migrated to the UK to pursue onward education and was lucky enough to gain a PG Diploma and a MSc from premier UK institutions. I owe a lot of my personal and professional development to my MSc which is in Pain Sciences. It made me think out of the box for not only my patients but also helped me to re evaluate my own personal beliefs. It made me realise that although pure biological issues do have a role, it is the Biopsychosocial (BSP) model that decides patient outcome, Therefore I have seen a shift in my own practise from being a manual therapist to coaching my patients on the BPS model. I am also a huge advocate for patient education and patient lead rehab for the same reason.
